Ten and Two

Well, I would take a picture of Chirps today, but I don't have much time to be online, so it will have to be another day. I started a thrush treatment a few nights ago with gentian violet which is very purple staining. Liam looks like he was sucking on a stamp pad (he kind-of was, I guess). The doctor thought it was possible that we may have thrush, but that can be a hard one to diagnose unless you get the cardinal signs which we don't have.

Winter is encroaching here. I say that because this weather is reminiscent of Bellingham's rainy, grey winters. We haven't had too much sun around here the past couple of weeks. We spared Finnegan his fate this morning. We decided to wait a little longer before neutering him. He seemed excited this morning, but that is his usual demeanor. I don't think he really suspected what was in store for him a short 24 hours ago.

Chirpee is growing so fast. He is awake more during the day and looking around with greater interest at his world. Yesterday, Deereandy and I went to Winnipeg with him and his growing interest was manifested in his growing discontentment with long car rides. He used to simply sleep as soon as we plunked his seat in the car, but he has more of an opinion these days. It was nice to spend the day with my husband, but something I ate made Chirps have a bad tummy ache last night. He was miserable and as bad as I felt for myself having to listen to him, I felt bad for him, too. Such a sweet little boy. I don't know what my world would be like apart from Gripe Water.

Today, I found a more regionally appropriate position for my hands on the steering wheel. They used to say ten and two was the best place before the invention of the airbag. Then it was revised to nine and three. I typically have one to two hands on the wheel and they are usually in the evening or early morning position. The difficulty with this is that in a small town there is a lot of waving that goes on between passing cars. So I've rediscovered the ten and two position as being the most readily available for the quick wave. Since I'm still unfamiliar with people and their vehicles, and more of them know me and mine - I have to be ready for the response wave. So for those of you who are frustrated with that "oops, I guess I knew you and wished I could have acknowledged you before you passed me" situation, you might try the quick and responsive ten and two position.

That is the end of my practical advice for the day because I've got to get dinner started before Chirpee wakes up and wants a snack.
