Naptime Entertainment

I put Chirpee down for a nap this afternoon and he happily began playing in his crib per his usual. This typically goes on for about five minutes before he succumbs to the slumber monster.

After approximately five minutes I heard him whimpering and thought to check on him. Sometimes he throws his blanket out of the crib which he relies on to get to sleep. Peeking through the opening of his room, I notice many blankets and some stuffed animals on the floor (typical), but no favorite blanket there. Before I went back to my breadmaking I spied a diaper on the floor. At first I thought it a new, clean one, but then couldn't remember there being any diapers out. So my next thought was "did he get his diaper off?".

Well I went into the room and discovered I had forgotten to put his last diaper into the diaper Genie and he retrieved it through the bars of the crib so he could play with it.

You guessed it, an icky diaper. Thankfully it was full of fibrous foods like raisins and apricots which are easy to pick up. So after reprimanding him for playing with his diaper, I proceed to pick up the remnants (feeling rebuked myself that I left the diaper in his reach), grabbed the blankets from the floor which also had bits of yuck attached then proceeded to the crib to clean up the boy and sheets. Thankfully he seemed to have kept his nap blanket in the clear so I washed his hands and feet up, changed his clothes, tore off the crib sheets, restarted his lullabies, plunked him back into the crib and now we are trying to nap again ...

It could have been worse.

Sounds like our house the other day; Avah comes walking into the kitchen with a dirty (opened) diaper in one hand and a dirty wipe in the other, looking so proud of herself! Only problem was, I had to go find what was supposed to be IN the diaper, all over her bedroom floor.. :( yuck...
