All banner days must begin somewhere. Mine started off at 4:50 am. Now, some might think that is too early a beginning to constitute any type of banner day. But these things are all about perspective. I am coming from the perspective of an exhausted mother who never gets to sleep that long before the first wake up call of Dimple. I actually went to bed before midnight last night so I actually accumulated around five and a half hours of continuous sleep. Nearly unheard of! My first thought upon realizing this was "Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, praise the Lord!" And it was said very sincerely. What an unexpected surprise.
It took me a good 20 minutes to fall back to sleep after I finished with Dimple purely from elation. Neither of my children woke again until 7:50 am which is also unheard of...another "Praise the Lord!" from deep within.
I had crazy and pleasant dreams which always get me off on the right foot as well.
We got breakfast together, Deereandy's lunch, showered, phoned around and left the house at 10:00 am for a little excursion to Winkler. I heard awhile ago that there was a real, live espresso joint added to the mall and had yet to get my americano there. So we put the stroller in the van and the boys and I wandered the short hallways of the mall with coffee in hand. I have to say (as a former barista) that they did a perfect job with my americano. The americano is the true test of good espresso skill as there is no wiggle room for mistakes.
So Chirpee got to pretend ride on the mall toys, Dimple enjoyed just strolling and looking around and I was fawning over my coffee. We also visited The Health Habit for a few grocery items while we were there. I get there maybe once a year so that seemed like another treat.
On the way home I stopped at Wal-Mart (Wally World) for a couple things. Dimple and Chirpee were charming the whole time.
After getting Chirpee off to a late nap, I thought we'd try feeding my exclusively breast fed nine month old. He has been so finicky over eating and giving me all signals that he just hates it. Occasionally he will eat a nibble here and there, but as to really eating...
The boy ate about 1/3 cup of potato bacon and zucchini soup. Another moment of elation for myself! He also fed himself a few white beans and even chewed and swallowed them. He now has been playing happily while I type this post...amazing.
The only flub of the day was a massive poo explosion while Wally shopping. I was trying to change him in the back of the van (chose not to take dipe bag in store) and he was fighting me the whole time trying to roll onto his tummy. Poo smears on my shopping bags, all over his pants, shirt, on me...Oh well, I am not letting that get me down today! I should have left him in cloth diapers when we went out this morning. That was my original intention, but somehow I changed my mind at the last minute. My guy can really blow out of disposables. And he did.
Now to see what the evening holds! Hopefully a night of real sleep...I know, that's asking way too much!

Don't worry Jaime, you are not alone in the sleep department, or the food department, for that matter! When Jack is feeling generous, he gives me 3 1/2 hours straight as opposed to three. It's almost worse than having a newborn! And he never eats more than a couple bites of ANYTHING. Today, though, he ate a half cup of applesauce! I really wonder what is going through their little minds. Food is good! Just eat it!
