Dimple's Dilemma

Our most recent newsy news centers around little Dimple.  He has had a few colds since early November and something hasn't been quite right with him.  I'm not sure whether it is just mother instinct, or could be perceived by others, but his cold symptoms have seemed more than just that to me.

After dragging my feet thinking I'm imagining things, horribly sleepless nights, talking to my sister about him over the phone, weeks of medicating him with antihistamines, then going on our December trip, I finally took him in to see our primary care doctor.  She confirmed what my sister and myself had already thought he could be experiencing and gave me a couple asthma medications for him to try.

So my little dry hacker who likes to keep me up so much at nights is recovering nicely from this last cold. I started him on Singulair a couple nights ago and tried his inhaler a couple times (failed attempts) when his coughing woke him up.  Last night he slept. Oh my!  He slept for over 11 hours straight without interruption!!!!!!!  I couldn't believe it!  I  can only hope the miracle continues and it wasn't just a fluke.

It is entirely possible the boy doesn't actually have asthma, but simply immature airways that will fit him better as time goes on so he can manage mucus production more effectively.  I can only hope this is the case, but either way...I am glad he is breathing easier these days, not hacking all night and wheezing in the early mornings.  His days have seen him more rested as well and we are starting to remember what a happy little boy he can be!
