Post Earth Day Demo

There is no better timing than the day after Earth Day to cut down trees. Tomorrow is Arbor Day which would be a sort of sacrilege to commit such atrocities on that day. So nestled between these green days is our black (grey really) day of cutting down our Spruce tree.

Our little tree is so tall, well it couldn't be captured on my camera. So here is a majority of it:

Okay, blogger is freaking out. This won't be a pretty post, but it wasn't a pretty day. In spite of my sarcasm and my relief of having the tree cut down, I really feel bad about the whole thing. It just isn't right to kill such an old creature.
Here is our little tree topper. Chirpee awoke from his nap, saw the tree being cut down by the man and was saying, "da-da, da-da, trak-tor!"
This picture is just weird. I took it looking up through one of our most ancient trees at the man on the branchless trunk of Spruce.

Another view. I'm not sure about the colour in these photos - well I have my ideas, but too lengthy to blog about.
My little clean-up crew. I know - the lawn is a mess of dirt - someday ... it will be beautiful! And Green and something worth celebrating on Earth Day and Arbor Day!
Neighbor comments:
"I remember climbing that tree when I was eight!" (whoops.)
"Its good to see that old tree gone! Wow, it sure looks bare. But you'll put a new tree in ..." (no. I was thinking a garden...)
