Happy Birthday to you, little guy. How I love and love and love you. Sometimes (okay, a lot), mommy gets all wrapped up in herself and how her day is going (or not going) and you are there to witness it.

So I ask for your forgiveness for being short tempered with you or impatient as you bend to pick up handfuls of gravel while we are walking home from the grocery store. One of my delights is the way you stop to smell every flower we pass on our walks with little Dimple. You take time to smell every flower until mommy reminds you we need to move on.
And of course there are the many trucks that pass by on main street which you have to stop for and watch until they disappear out of sight or park along the curb. Today, you were taken by a "beeper" (old Dodge Ram) that had orange flames with black paint. You saw them pass by us about three times and I laughed as I thought they might think it strange that the boy and mommy with the stroller had to stop and watch them ever so carefully. When they finally stopped at the grocery store I explained to them how wonderful their truck was (especially since they had a puppy inside). The woman said, "oh! a future mechanic!" and the man let the puppy out of the truck just so you could pet him. Coming from our family, there is great possibility that you will be a mechanic. I know that at the least, you'll be a great "fix it" man like your daddy no matter where your occupation lies.
You have such a loving heart, always looking out for Dimple and making him feel included in our day. If he gets upset you are ready there with a "blankie", kiss and hug. You bring him toys when he can't get them for himself and you love to sing to him and make him laugh. I love the way you play hide and seek with him and the way you patiently let him pull your hair because he loves it so much.
We will (finally) have your birthday party this weekend. It will be a "red" party per your special request. I'm a little flustered that you just requested a brown cake with a trailer and bales today since I've already got the makings for your James Red Velvet Cake...oh well, I will try to make it so special you'll be happy with it. We did bales and a trailer last year, munchkin. The last few days you've been singing "happy birfday for you!" every time something pleased you. It is as if your birthday has been going on for awhile now. You had an extra special day on the weekend as you spent some time with Jujubes at the Splash Park then had a three hour, working combine ride with daddy late that evening. You got to have a "picnik" supper in the cab and read your books. I don't know when I've seen you happier...you had to act real cool about it when you got home, though. "Ya, rode a combine," you lazed as you leaned against the wall; your nose scrunching up.You are such a special boy and my biggest prayer for you is that you will come to walk closely with the Lord Jesus. That is truly all your daddy and I desire for you life. I hope that we can be a small, dim picture of His enormous love to you. Happy Birthday, Bugs.
