I Did It To Myself

This is where we'd all rather be, right?  A pile of fall leaves, rustling, not cold enough for a coat, but the sun is warming.

I am trying to envision myself there now.

Instead of here.  Returned home from a trip to Superstore with two boys in a cart pushing each other, making grabs for things in the cart, whining, past snack time and approaching lunch time.  Of course the cart would have to have a bum wheel, too.  So my left forearm is burning from the effort of steering the overloaded cart.

We won't even talk of checkout and mommy's terse voice and Chirpee's pleading to get out of the cart and push the conveyor belt button and Dimple crying "'nack!  'nack!" as mommy rapidly stuffs her groceries into bags.  "Don't you dare stand up in there, Chirpee!"

And of course they fall asleep on the ride home, aren't hungry after consuming a box of sugar filled fruit snacks from the store and ruin their precious afternoon naps.

Both play nicely in their rooms for awhile, but Chirpee is currently throwing a weeping fit because I won't let him out of "rest time" yet.  And Dimple was caught emptying his dresser of his clothes.  I didn't catch him until he had the WHOLE thing unloaded, of course.  And he managed to take that time to poo his pants.  So now he is cleaned up, reading books in bed (so I think) while listening to the wails of his brother and the clicking of the keyboard.

I am imagining the sun, warm on my face, leaves crunch beneath my feet and I slowly fall back into a large pile of luscious fall leaves, their scent filling my face and a smile.

Yes, the overflowing cart at Superstore with two boys buckled in the front poking, pushing at one another is all too familiar in my little world. I understand completely. =) And falling asleep on the way home. I do understand!
