This morning Chirpee asked if we could go back to "that place with the lookout". He was remembering our adventures late summer/fall last year. So we finished up most of our school work and headed out there this afternoon. I adore taking pictures of my kids from behind...so bear with me.
Joyful imaginations!
"Oh hi, mom!"
"Wish flowers" I think that term came from a Little Bear story, but I could be wrong.
"I'm gonna save the rest of mine for later, okay mom?"
They made it! "Hey, that was faster than I remember it!" A short little path, really. I suppose it is a little longer for shorter legs.
The view from up here. In the background there are tanker rail cars being stored on the line.
A lovely mowed pathway to follow.
So much to discover.
"Whew! I'm hot!"
They enjoyed laying down on the bridge to look down in the water at the plants. Chirpee was curious as to what the algae patches were.

Found a cattail from last fall. When I first saw his hand full of fluff I thought he had a small animal in tow. I was happy it was just a little fuzz :)
Cooling off in nature's AC - shade. Well, technically this is a manmade picnic structure, but there were lots of trees around too!
So, I'm not the only nail biter in my family. Dimple is just as bad as his mama...
Always thinking and smiling. When he isn't falling to pieces that is...age four has been quite explosive for this little guy.
A bad picture, but we noticed a robin kept flying near the picnic shelter under the eves. Then we looked up and directly over us was a nest. So the boys and I moved over the another table and the robin was much happier being able to be near his/her nest. I assume there must have been some real littles in there. We couldn't hear any, but the robin wasn't sitting on the eggs either. Just hovering.
The end of the day has our wood tick count at about six collectively, but we are still counting. Mosquitoes were out in droves (I would hate to be walking there this evening!) so it remains to be seen what that count will be. A beautiful day otherwise.

Where did you get those too cute hats? I know I live a long way away, but did you make them? Is there a pattern? I love them!

@Stephen and Bets I got the boys' hats at Little Baby Bat on Etsy. She does a great job!
