Creative Powers

As the winds whip up my hair, the dirt flies into my eyes and I squeeze them shut.  The swirling heavy air pulses down my neck and makes my hackles rise.  A tornado?  A storm warning?  A message I didn't get?

Intermittently squeezing my eyes tight then briefly glancing to the side of me, I ensure I am not steering my shopping cart into another shopper this late, dark evening.  I manage my way across two aisles of cars to find my van.

Once safely inside, my heart jumping, I grab my phone to talk to my protector.  Did you hear if there is a storm I'm driving into?  No word, no weather to report.  Lots of wind and some rain in town.

Pulling out of my space, I ensure there are no other shoppers I am backing into then wheel myself around to exit.  Fine particles of gravel and dust sweeping over metal making a tinking sound.  The wind rocks me.

As I enter the highway, a light show awaits as only the prairie sky can deliver.  Miles in any direction, full sky to see, no obstructions to the eye.  Ripping light from top of the sky to the feet in front of me.  Eyes with "sunspots" for a mile or two; the jagged shocks parting my view.

What a miraculously, powerful display in the heavens!  To think we have a God that made these things!  A Lord more powerful than any earthly force.

Miles and miles of seeing the southern sky hiccup and the contagion of the western and northern skies in response.  Feeling heavy and surrounded by power - I drive on in the winds and intermittent rains.  The only lights to be seen are the occasional oncoming car, the sporadic farm yard light, the heavy tractor headlamps racing over dirt, digging deep to cover seed before the skies break open on them.

The energy of the open skies and the rush of people planting seeds in hopes of outracing the plan of God.  Just a few more acres before the inevitable.  These moments remind me of how alive I am.
