A Moment

It may not be standard on this blog, but since I've left Facebook I have to put my opinions somewhere - right??? Okay, so maybe I could just keep things to myself.

But I'm not going to. I wonder if anyone has noticed the change in international talk towards the nation of Israel in the past few years. I noticed it changing during the W. Bush administration and continues with snowball pace these days. The Arab refugees residing in Israel (most commonly known as "Palestinians") happen to governed by a group of well-recognized terrorists (Hamas) and the rest of the world sits by condemning the Israeli government for every move they make in hopes of protecting themselves from a group that wants them wiped from the face of the earth.

"Well, isn't that a bit harsh? An exaggeration, perhaps?", one may ask. Not really. If you spend any time reading, or better yet, just get online and watch some videos and remarks from Islamic groups (including the reigning officials of Iran, Saudi Arabia and Syria) and there is no doubt it is in their outspoken agendas to annihilate Israel and every Jew contained therein.

That being said, am I for the people of Gaza and The West Bank suffering under an Israeli blockade? Absolutely not. I am sympathetic to human suffering, but really...what government in the world would act any differently than Israel? Is it not extreme hypocrisy on the part of the rest of us to condemn them for defending themselves against suicide bombers and a collective that doesn't even recognize them as a nation? Ever tried to have a conversation with someone who doesn't recognize your existence? Well, Israel has, a lot. They've been a part of peace talks and made many concessions to make peace with others that don't believe they have a right to exist.

I'm going to step down, now. I could go on for a long time on this one, but I doubt too many people who read this are very interested.

As a parting comment, Israel wouldn't have a right to exist as a nation or people if it hadn't been for Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob choosing out a peculiar people of His own. He blessed them and promises blessing to those who bless Israel and cursing to those who curse Israel. They are the apple of His eye. Saying this, I'm not making a stand on how the government leaders of Israel handle political matters, they have sinned just like the rest of the world (particularly in making land concessions and not putting faith in the One who promised it). The Lord is above and over all the blunders we make as people and as nations - it is what helps me sleep at night. Trust in Him, not in the governments of the world. What an encouragement to know that the Great Shepherd of Israel is returning and will make all things right! "Behold I make all things new."
