Friendly Visits

Last evening we the E. family came up to visit (true prairie dwellers driving an hour on icy roads). Little J. and H. brought plenty of smiles and fun along. There main mode of communication between the three seemed to be eye poking. Maybe they should keep working on that vocabulary . . .
This first picture was taken this morning as Chirpee watched Deereandy cleaning off his dad's truck to take into Winkler. There was also a neighbor out with his snow blower and someone removing snow from the streets with a large tractor. In the winter, you must be diligent about snow removal as it doesn't melt off in between snowfalls. So summer yard work time is occupied by snow removal in the winter.

This is not the best of the two pictures, but I goofed. Chirpee is distressed about the flash, H. is apparently listening intently to someone and J. is ready to go after his tractor.

Last night (before friends arrived) Chirpee cut his finger on something and I didn't notice until he was trying to climb into the chair with me and I noted blood on his leg. For the next full hour I was trying to get his finger to stop bleeding. Deereandy came home to Chirp and I sitting on the kitchen floor, me in a shirt spotted with little blood marks, holding him down, him screaming while I tried to apply pressure to his finger to have it clot (for the third time). I was unsuccessful after four continuous minutes of holding pressure and Deereandy finally took over the holding him while I put mittens on his hands to keep the blood contained. He then happily played for the next 20 minutes and when I removed the mits - all better. I think I'll have to start feeding the boy some spinach before he has a real injury!
