Friday evening started out real well, Deereandy went to sleep early (rare occurrence), Chirpee went to bed nicely at his usual time and I proceeded to finish cleaning up from the dinner mess. I went to sleep around my usual time, but around 1:00 am was greeted by a distressed cry from Chirpee's room.
As I ventured in the smell made me think I'd have to change a diaper, but as I neared the crib I realized it was a more daunting smell. My little bird had thrown up not only his dinner, but I found his lunch in there too! Unfortunately he must have done this then gone back to sleep because things were pretty cold and smeared by the time he woke up.
This was not just a job for one person, but a wonderful time to have a partner in the next room to help with bathing and crying and laundry and disinfecting. So I woke up Deereandy and plunked a semi-dry, naked Chirpee into his arms while I went to tackle the bedsheets.
The next three hours entailed laundry, multiple vomiting episodes and Deereandy and Chirpee trying to catch a little sleep in the rocking chair.
Later in the morning we tried breakfast and fluids which repeatedly came up so I called the doctor's office to get advice on when I should be concerned about a tot (I'm no peds nurse!). She then advised that we go to the ER since he had been dry diapered for 12 hours and wasn't keeping things down.
The ER doc sent us back home with instructions to give it time, keep trying little bits of fluids and come back if the boy has a desert mouth and is dry like a prune. By 11:30 he was finished vomiting and kept his fluids down for another few hours. He didn't drink much and ate nothing, but seemed to perk up a bit and be on the road to recovery.
Okay, short story already made long, he vomited again before bed that evening, had a fever the next morning, vomited again last night and is cranky, cuddly, a little less chubby and exhausted today. I've done piles of laundry and am waiting to tackle the next couple loads.
I am thankful he has slept the last two nights though because it gives me resources to draw from for the day! I'll be glad when this nasty bug passes and more glad if Deereandy and I avoid getting it!

Oh, horrid! I do hope it's almost over! And it truly is wonderful to have husbands that are available to be helpful, isn't it? :)
Hope this illness passes quickly. Hang in there! You're an amazing Mommy!!
WOW! That's quite the flu episode! Not fun at all i imagine! Hats off to two amazing parents!!

Ugh...that brings back memories (that I'd rather forget)! Thankfully we haven't gotten this kind of sickness...yet. Anything but this. Look on the bright side - you only have one kid puking and having to do laundry for! Still, that's no fun. Hope you guys haven't gotten it (and don't get it). BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to a fellow American! We aren't doing anything. Actually, Steve has a business meeting tomorrow. Hope you can do something, or at least not be too lonely for your family.
Oh, that is, this kind of sickness this year!
